Heh, that lady is awesome; I'm grateful to have ever warmed my hands by the glow of her unique drive and creativity.

    !

    random punctuation!
    • Hi Keili!

Thanks for the warm welcome! How come you know German? Rachel is awesome indeed, I'm still waiting for the day I can meet her personally...

      Greetz,

      Elena
      • Hey Elena,

I have remnants of german stuck to my brain from the ol' childhood; I spent most of the formative years travelling around europe with my mum and whichever circus-inclined stragglers happened to be in the vicinity - I was never fluent, but quite comfortably conversational in German, French, Spanish and Italian (with other random snippets) but unfortunately my brain is very good at getting rid of what I don't use..

.. or maybe _beer_ is good at getting rid of bits of brain I don't use..

regardless, I no longer have enough of any of those languages to show off at parties.. :(
        • Wilkommen Elena! Wir haben den gleichen Namen!

My German is not really that good. I cheated. ;) hehe But welcome welcome!
          • @Keili: Yeah, showing off at parties with different languages is currently one of my favorites! Unfortunately, beer and other tasty evil beverages help me get rid of them as well!!!

@Monsta!: Thank you! Your German doesn't seem to be that bad at all!!!
          • All I can say in German now is Wie Komme Ich am besten zum Bahnhof bitte, and eine Beer bitte.

Though weirdly I can usually understnad it if I see it written.
            • Well, you see you know the essential phrases already!! ;-)
I'm sure you do understand some German when it's written, since it's quite closely related with English.... See, I'd learned Latin at school for years, and the only good it's done me is that I understand some Spanish and Italian!
              • I'd love to show off some multi-lingual skills at a party - only problem is I'd have to wait for the opportunity to ask for a room and a beer in Greek.
                • nice to see we all have our linguistic priorities straight :)

anyone read "Fierce invalids home from hot climates" ?

A room full of multi-lingual people and beer sounds scary fun.

Count me in. I can pull 4 languages to the table...but only if I can get a few more rounds ;)

And Keili what is that book or reading material you speak of about?

Randomly: I think i had a dream with Keili in it. Strange since I've never met him. Not strange since I think I was peering in his photo album before going to bed. Peep peep!

I absolutely loved Fierce Invalids (and I can relate to Switters being able to order food fluently in the native languages but not being able to speak them), but I think Jitterbug Perfume holds closest to my heart.
